Open Question: How do you get references? ANY ADVICE? | It's ...

I'm a university junior. I took community college classes all through high school. I was a good student. I'm still a decent student, but its a big school and I'm not chums with my professors usually.

There are THREE internships I want to apply for this summer. I'm a dual major in psychology/biology. The internships all are right up my alley:

1.) Navy Marine Mammal internship
2.) A nature conservancy naturalist/customer service/guide position education the public on local fauna and guiding hikes.
3.) A summer, paid seasonal internship job with the game and fish department.

BUT, I HAVE A problem. At least 2 our of the three require references. MULTIPLE references. Scratching my head, I can't think of any. I work for my family's business, so they are my employer. I cant exactly ask my dad for a reference, and have the deciding officials find it objective. I worked at a vet clinic for 5 months last fall, and when i quit due to class schedule, my boss liked me enough to say he would always hire me back.
I shadowed another vet, but unpaid, last summer as well.

I use to be on good terms with my behavioral ecology/biology prof (I took 2 of his classes, and he remembered who i was and introduced me to the class each semester). He still knows who I am, but I havent had a class with him in a year. My best friend is close friends with him. He's taking her on a island internship this summer.

I had an english professor who adored me in high school at community college, I asked him for a reference on a scholarship app years ago. So I feel like I cant suddenly pop up and exploit him.

I'm a 4-H leader. I lead a project on my own, volunteer. I've been doing it for 3 years and have become close friends with my kids and their parents. Many of them have known me since I was a young teen.

I feel defeated. I need references. Especially the Navy one. I need a MINIMUM OF THREE REFERENCES from employers and/or professors. Any advice? My parents always taught me "if you want to get something, dont expect help or pulled strings, you gotta get it yourself." so i feel so guilty even asking someone to write a reference for me.
