With decades of folk music greatness under his belt, James Taylor showed up at Fenway Park last night (October 24) to sing the National Anthem at the Boston Red Sox vs. St. Louis Cardinals World Series game.
However, when it came time to perform, the “Fire and Rain” crooner accidentally began singing “American the Beautiful” rather than the ditty he’d been assigned.
And like a polished professional, Taylor stayed in the same key and merely jumped over to the first words of the National Anthem, with hardly anyone noticing the flub.
Later in the game, James came back out to honor the survivors and rescuers from the Boston Marathon bombings with “America the Beautiful.”
