I've been trying for quite some time to go use Gateway's paid featured game service to advertize my online RPG MUD, but it seems that it's either it is no longer in service, or under a severe backlog?
Gateway is a wonderful hub for precisely the type of writing intensive role players on which many of our games and MUDs are based, including mine. If the spirit of RPGs intent to facilitate access to rp everywhere is still intact, it would be a wonderful thing to create a board/sub forum on the main forum which is specifically designated for ooc advertizing of other games without players having to resort to spam in game channels or mail. Folks would be able to search it or ignore it at will. A happy medium :) You could even make a user group for site donors who could access it, if you still wanted to make it a less structured income earner.
Anyways, that's my suggestion for the suggestion box. Not sure if anybody else would be interested in a service like that. Maybe we'll get some replies to this post to gage.
